Until further notice, the Zagreb Observatory is closed for evening observations due to unfavorable epidemiological conditions and damage to the main telescope caused by the earthquake.

During the earthquake on December 29, 2020, there was damage to the concrete pedestal to which the pillar of the main telescope was attached.
As a precaution and to preserve the equipment, we dismantled the telescope tubes with optics and counterweights.
However, the disassembly of the automatic assembly and the metal pipe is more demanding because a smaller scaffolding and a mechanical crane are required.
We have informed the City Office of Education about the damage and we are expecting the arrival of a structural engineer for a detailed assessment of the damage and the manner of repair.
We ask for your understanding and patience.
